Big Buck Contest 2026

Texas Field Archery Association will hold a Big Buck Contest for the 2025-2026 hunting season. Awards will be presented for the following categories:

Typical Whitetail Non-Typical Whitetail Youth - Buck Whitetail
Highest Scoring Typical
Whitetail as measured by
Boone and Crocket Club standards.
Highest Scoring Non-Typical
Whitetail as measured by 
Boone and Crocket Club standards.
Highest Gross Scoring
Whitetail as measured by
Boone and Crocket standards.
Open to all TFAA members Open to all TFAA members TFAA members aged 8 – 14

General Rules:

  1. Open to Texas Field Archery Association members only
  2. Deer must be harvested within the Continental United States, using legal archery equipment, and following Parks and Wildlife regulations.
  3. Crossbows are not allowed. 
  4. Must be harvested during the 2025-2026 hunting season
  5. No High Fence or pen raised and released deer will be allowed.
  6. A buck may be entered in one category only. 
  7. There is no entry fee to submit an entry.

Submission Requirements:

  1. All entries must be submitted by January 31, 2026, to Jerry Beavin, TFAA Bowhunting Director, jerrybeavin@gmail.com. (361) 362-5263.
  2. Submittal shall include:
    1. A Boone and Crocket Scoring Sheet (Typical or Non-Typical as needed)
    2. Scoring Sheets at boone-crockett.org
    3. Three clear photos of the animal and hunter (One showing front profile and one showing each side profile.)
    4. Photos of your Harvest must show respect to the animal
    5. A brief description of the hunt and the location (Ranch/County)
